Multiple Adventures in the Sea Empty Multiple Adventures in the Sea

Post by Ragmaan Sun Jul 19, 2009 2:36 pm

As i've been rereading one piece i really wanted to do this. A one piece rp.

The cp 9 arc was just a reminder of how awesome it is.

As most of you may know, one piece is about pirates in a not extremely advanced world in technology. I'd say around the development of musket is a good foundation for what to expect (with variation based on how its a manga)

Currently, there is the world government composed of many nations that have allied themselves with the central power of the world. It is composed of the navy, which is headed by admirals, and under them the power only splits thinner and thinner, where the basic marine is basically a plebian with a gun.

But they have allied with themselves the 7 pirate warlords, the schikibuchi (excuse my spelling)who are some of the strongest pirates in the world. In this manner it is the only link of the worlds of law and chaos. Where there is the navy, there is also its counterpart, pirates.

These pirate reside all over the world, in the four seas. The north blue, the south blue, the east blue and the west blue. But they all rush together at the grand line, which is where only the most hardcore pirates can go and fight. Whether it is for fame, fortune, or power, the most powerful men can be found within that realm.

But for now, we are more focused on those that will progress to plausibly be within that range of skill. But for now, they are mainly small fry. They are the local pirates of the realm, mainly small crews that are ruffians. But there are those that have gained fame in those parts, and have gained skill. Those are to be feared. The navy is here as well, albeit it is very unlikely to find the most powerful men here. But it is needless to say, that this is the beginning of all pirates... except those born on the grand line but thats a whole nother story entirely.

But for now, our story begins in the south blue. There are pirate factions that have started to grow unruly, and other places that are havens for them. There will be crews, likely as it is, with skilled men. Some will partake in the devil fruit, while others will have gained their skill through sheer training. Others will just be tricky devils.

But at any rate, a new wave of motion is happening, and there is seemingly going to be another age of pirates again.

Some rules:
One character per person to start.
Try to form crews, so we don't have confusing crap all over the place.
Marine is fine as well.
Lets not have everyone have devil fruit, or if they do anyway, only a handful of zoan and logia. Try to be creative as well. Unoriginal copies are boring.
Also, canon people didn't exist. Or they did so long ago no one remembers. Or they were all stricken from history. The point is, no references to other people. Some locations can be reused but try to be original.

If having a crew, try to parley via pm first to see who is what and where. Have a character introduction (like a short bio) and then make them appear in an iconic manner.

Most of all... have fun! But no godmodding.

Some information on the devil Fruit:
Paramecia are the most common type of Devil Fruit. They come in a variety of forms which can be divided into several subcategories.

With such a broad range of available powers, it is difficult to generalize the abilities offered by Paramecia fruits. However, it appears that the effects of this Devil Fruit type can be categorized into two basic groups: those which are based on a characteristic (such as elasticity or slowness) or an object (Bombs, doors, etc.) Paramecia types are also distinguishable in the manner in which their powers manifest. They can either alter the user's current physical state (, directly affect their immediate environment and/or living things within proximity, or affect both of these conditions.

How to trigger the fruit’s power can also differ from user to user. For instance, Gomu Gomu no Mi and Yomi Yomi no Mi have powers that are active at all times, while others such as the Noro Noro no Mi and Hana Hana no Mi require self-activation.

There are also many types of Paramecia that could be easily mistaken as Logia due to the user's ability to release near-limitless amounts of a particular substance (or energy) in relation to the power their fruit gives These types of Paramecia are not confused as Logia, though, since the users cannot convert themselves into their respective element

Zoan:
Allows the user to transform into an animal. This fruit provides three forms: the user's natural form, a full animal form, and a hybrid form, combining both original and animal form into an odd bipedal form (usually in a bizarre way where the size is greatly exaggerated). The only known hybrid forms that are not bipedal is the Hebi Hebi no Mi series.

Logia:
With these fruits, the user may actually become a natural element, as well as generate and manipulate it. They are neither completely human nor element in their default state. Logia users can turn completely into their element if they want to. This is often used for crossing great distances fast, or avoiding blows should their weakness be discovered.

Congrats Ragmaan. I was thinking of starting this, but I'm glad you did instead (you have read more than I have. At the minute i'm on 167).

I'm definately gonna join this, but I want to take a little more time to think of a good character ^^

Also, a good example of a character
Captain Freeman
A captain of his ship, the Grove
He is a quite competent marksman, caring with him two flintlock pistols.
Through training, he is even more competent and is able to hit targets quite a bit further than the pistols range.
He wears the standard navy uniform for someone of his rank, and has a slight stance on justice.
But what he really wants is to find his sweetheart who was kidnapped by pirates and taken to the grand line. But for now he has to work his way up grudginly until he makes it there.

Multiple Adventures in the Sea Empty Re: Multiple Adventures in the Sea

Post by Ragmaan Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:02 pm

i'm gonna restate one thing.

i want everyone to have one character. including pcs and npcs. just so we don't get any ridiculous things where everyone can be everyone. uniquness is always cool.

so i want people to pair up in crews, in at least two. because you can't have one person running a real ship. that ain't going to work so hot.

they can have non descript npcs for anyone to use, but any named people are basically other characters. the one acceptable taboo of that is a navy ship. where they are all nameless mooks.

pirates should form crews start with at least 2 people. and read the quick fruit guide.

and i shoulda been a lil more specific as well. so its my fault completely. and the unsaid rule of this place for people to have 1000x of npcs.

on another note:
the chances of finding a logia fruit outside of hte grand line is like 1 in 6,000,000.

a zoan fruit is less rare.
but then all devil fruit are rare

but a rare animal amplifies the rareness of a zoan fruit by alot. like a unicorn (not that there are any but you get the idea).
and if you don't mind spoilers.

here is a resource for devil fruits.

Name: Harold
He wields a chain along with his steadyily growing martial arts (if you can call them that). As a waif that grew up in the south blue, he had to join a childrens gang to survive till this point. But due to his build, he wasn't exactly an ample thief, or made for begging. But to prove them wrong, one day, much much older, he snuck onto a pirates ship while they docked and stole a fruit. With a wink of the eye, he consumed it in front of his fellow orphans. They grew wide eyed with shock was they saw what happened to him and abandoned him. Since then he's been looking for work as a pirate, sure enough.
Devil Fruit: Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model Rhino!
Harold is an ambivalent man. While he is ready to dole out love and compasion, he is also ready to fight with no remorse due to his *slightly* cold childhood.
He wears a vest that leaves his chest bare, has a defining figure by his big (not long, big) nose, and his smaller eyes. It is needless to say he isn't stupid... but just a bit naive. His muscles are quite well developed from lots of young children fights. But there is still alot he doesn't know.

Currently he is looking to gain a reputation, as he just opened a series of challenges in bars for fights.
Age: 16.

Name: Captain Alan J. Blazkowicz
Age: 21
Captain of his crew and ship "The Red Blazer", a mid sized ship meant for fast travel and quick ambushes.
Specializes in: acrobatics, weapon skills, speed and agility, leadership.

Wearing a long coat with chains going down the arms and a vest over the coat, black pants, and nice boots, Jackuval is a bounty hunter and pirate, a really minor one. His crew is only known about from one town that he saved instead of ransacking. They haven't done anything major since Alan hasn't wanted them to get involved in anything truly major, thinking his crew should build more experience. He specializes in fist fighting and quickly learning how to use all kinds of different weapons. Alan usually is seen carrying a whip he uses for combat playing with his special "flip knife". Acrobatic and fast, he is no stranger to pain, being able to get beaten pretty badly but still put up somewhat of a fight. Almost always bearing a good attitude around others, he hates being alone and bored. He's never met a person who truly made him angry or anyone he holds ill will towards, and he himself is a friendly and polite fellow.

He makes a living sailing all over the world looking for things to steal and bounties to take, although he's yet to actually do anything major. His 3 crewmen on the ship are long time friends Goemon (pronounced go-A-mon), Daisuke (pronounced die-sue-kay), and Meril. Goemon is a flintlock expert who makes his own special ammunition, Daisuke is a sword fighter with a sword that has a long blade and a short spike coming out the bottom of the handle, and Meril is a crazed and overly energetic girl who fights with razor sharp knuckle dusters (it's a grip that your hand goes into with a wide blade for punching and slicing) and shoes that have knives that come out when she kicks the right way.

He decided to let his crew take control of the ship, putting Daisuke as the new Captain. He said he wanted to try and find a way to make things work out by himself and test his real capabilities alone. Although they asked him not to leave, he told them they would meet again someday when he found great skills.

Will this suffice?

Almost.

Two things:
A jack of all trades is a master of none, and-
One Character. One. Named npcs are multiple characters. You can have nondescript people not very good at things, but noone should have multiple characters.

Name: The Silver Bandit
Age: 26
Rank: Captain without a crew.
Appearance: A tall, thin man. Usually dresses in a black suit. Has medium length silver hair. He is always smartly dressed.
Personality: An interesting man who doesn't take anything too seriously. A free spirit who goes where the winds take him.
Bio: As a child studying on the karate island in South Blue, he was always bottom of the class. He failed at every style of karate, every technique, even his basic combat skills were looked down upon. He was a kid with heavy dreams, always looking out for his friends, always trying his best to improve, and sadly, getting nowhere. Upon studying his attempts at martial arts, his sensei took pity on him, and decided to teach him a special style that was "not to be used unless necessary." Surprisingly, this style turned out to be one thing that they boy excelled at, and became formidible with.
Other: He carries around with him a notebook where he stores Top-secret information and his ridiculous secret techniques, accompanied by what can only be described as... poor drawings.
Fighting style: He uses crazy techniques that no one else would think of, sometimes not even plausible ones. He has specialised styles of combat that he learned himself for all situations, although, otherwise pretty useless, not to mention ridiculous....

Multiple Adventures in the Sea Empty Re: Multiple Adventures in the Sea

Post by Ragmaan Tue Jul 21, 2009 3:01 pm

its fine. remember... things haven't started... until now.

And thus, I open Multiple Adventures in the Sea!
----------------------------------------------
Harold had emerged unschathed from another bar fight. He was not only be paid by the patron to fight, he was also able to gather a portion of the betting pool (5%, which is quite good for such a small bar). But on the small island of Negu, there was someone there for another reason...

Out in the sea, there was a pirate group going about. The Insensitive crew. No, they weren't named for their captain, (who was named) Captain Pekking. They were named for their actions of killing those in random islands among the South Blue for apparently no reason. Well, no reason to those targeted anyway. But as only a small fraction of pirates under the Bonney Men, it was safe to say that there was something more going on.

And currently, the first action was to be made. Of their bigger plan. Probably. Either that or just killing for fun. Probably that, but that wasn't a good thing either.

Harold, having finished the second bar fight of the night was now starting to get tired. But he wouldn't let that interrupt his fun. And a cloaked figure, as it would be, managed to get next in line.

The bar owner then announced the next fight. "We have an unknown challenger fighting our resident Fighter, Harold!"

Most of the lights darkened, as they were snuffed to let only the light surround the fighters and to see the booze. "Begin!"

Immediately, the fighter brought out two knives and lunged at Harold. With a gasp, he managed to block the two arms, managing to get two minor scratches on his arms. He shoved the man back and leapt away from the assailant. "If you wanted weapons, why didn't you say so then..."

But rage emanated from his eyes even if his words were tactile. A chain was partially unwrapped from his wrist, and he wielded it in his right hand. As the opponent charged again, Harold flicked his wrist, making the chain go around his victim. It was quick, making the man gasp as he got pulled in by Harold's other arm and smashed in the face with a powerful punch. "Who's next?" He said, but smiled, shaking his head otherwise. That was enough for tonight. It was time to go, as there was never to be weapons in the fight. Someone clearly had a grudge against him and it was time to leave.

--------------------------------
Tiki, you wanted a villian? The insensitive crew is the first... Get into a scuffle if you want to.

The door opened up and from the sunlight came a pale skinned woman under a black umbrella wearing a cape over her pirate outfit. She entered the bar paying no mind to the scene walks past Harold without acknowledgment and only casually moves the bangs from her eyes and sits on a bar stool. She beckons the bartender over.

It was a dark night without a cloud in the sky. A man in a black suit stared up at the stars, clearly in deep thought, daydreaming maybe. He snapped back to reality and walked into a bar. Opening the doors, he was greeted by the smell of strong alcohol and the sight of drunken pirates and bandits. Men lieing on the ground, clearly having consumed more than was reasonable. Drunken shouts could be heard and a drunken band were playing. The "music", if you could call it that, was clearly out of tune. It sounded like the singer was suffering from bronchitis....at the very least. He was coughing and hacking, and spitting on the ground when he paused for breath. Yes, this was indeed a horrible sight.

The man went to sit down, but before doing so, he wiped his chair with a napkin from the bar. He then sat down and shook his head in despair. It was clear that this man was not used to this particular style of scene. He appeared a little more upper-class, what with the suit and well pollished black shoes. The only thing one could have commented on was perhaps his messy hair style. It was silver, and was covering his left eye. He ordered a glass of red wine and took the time to look around the bar, taking in every grim detail. He let out a sigh and turned round again, facing the barman. He lifted his glass and swirled it gently. He then moved the glass to his mouth and sipped it. He seemed pleasantly shocked by the quality of wine he had found in this rather unsightly bar.

A man approached him, one of the many drunks found in the bar. His speech was slurred and one could easily smell the alcohol in his breath. He had evidently had too much already, but alas, this was the life of a pirate. That was what the stereotype stated anyway. Leaning over the man in the suit, he spoke to the bar man. It was obvious that the barman had trouble making him out, as he had to ask him to repeat himself several times. He began to fall to the side in his heavily drunken state and put his hand out to grab on to the man from earlier in order to hold himself up. He missed, or did he? Without any visible movement, the man with silver hair had moved centimetres out of the way to avoid his suit being dirtied. Everyone there had thought that it was the drunken man's poor judgement, even he himself probably thought that for the movement was so flowing and silent.

The man hit the ground and joined, what seemed to be from their bad dress sense, several members of his own crew. The man with silver hair had never even looked round. He now took another sip of his wine and sighed again.

Harold finally knew that it was time to leave town. He didn't want to stay much longer after his assailant had appeared. It was clear to him that he had to leave before things got more dangerous. And there was only one way to do that. The harbor.

In the harbor were various ships. Some were Navy, as he recognized that on sight. But the others weren't. And that meant he could sneak on board, like he did that one time in his past...

After searching around, a suitable ship was found. With a little work, Harold tied his chain into having a loop and threw it onto the ship. It managed to catch, and after pulling himself up, Harold untied it and recoiled it onto his arm.

He stealthily snuck into the inner bowels of the ship, and hid, waiting for the crew to leave.

Bartender: So what brings you to this neck of the sea?
Camilla: Work.
Bartender: What kind?
Camilla: I need to work for a new crew. My temper got the best of me and I killed the other pirates on the last ship I was part of.
Bartender: So whiskey was it? Hehe...

Bartender: Well you found the right place to apply, plenty of freelance sailors come here.

it was a clear, sunny day. William is looking out at the sea, boring day. then a sailor walks up to him and says "hello, my name is Johnny, I have been assign-" just then William grabs his standard issue musket and smacks Johnny up side the head with the butt of the gun.

William: YOU ARE NOT ALOUD TO HAVE A NAME! you will now be sailor 1.

the sailor gets up, he has a big knot on his head.

sailor 1: yes sir!

William: now what were you telling me?

sailor 1: I have been assigned to help you, I was told to report to you for training.

William: very well. if a ship comes in you write the ship's name in this book and the caption's name next to it. then you collect a toll for using the harbor. that is pretty much it.

sailor 1: yes sir... whats the gun for?

William looks at the sailor and sarcastically says "...to cure manic depression..." then walks off on his lunch break.

time went on, as he waited in the night. hours had passed, and it was nearing morn. but nothing had happened yet. but that was to be expected. he didn't know how long the ship had been in the bay. nor why.

so harold would have to wait longer. at the very least he could try to pseudo hibernate while waiting. and that would be his course of action until the boat moved by the action of sailing as opposed to lurching due to waves.
